Rice VP Wise recognized for excellence
Scott Wise, vice president for investments and treasurer, was among the four finalists for Institutional Investor magazine’s Endowment of the Year Award.
The nominees were recognized at the 2006 Awards for Excellence in Investment Management Gala Dinner in Chicago Oct. 23. The awards honor outstanding achievements of the executives responsible for investment policy for U.S. pension plans, endowments and foundations.
Wise works with the Board of Trustees’ investment committee on all endowment matters, including asset allocation, investment manager selections/terminations, investment performance and endowment spending. Under his leadership, Rice’s endowment has grown from $990 million in 1989 to $4 billion this year — an average annual compound return of 13 percent over 17 years.
